How Latisse Works
Latisse is a prescription medication used to treat hypotrichosis, a condition where there is a lack of eyelash growth. Latisse is the only FDA-approved treatment for this condition and has been shown to be effective in increasing eyelash growth, thickness, and darkness.
Latisse contains bimatoprost, a prostaglandin analog that works by prolonging the growth phase of the eyelash cycle. It works by increasing the number of hairs that grow, as well as extending the growth phase of each hair. This results in longer, thicker, and darker eyelashes over time.
Application
Latisse is applied to the base of the upper eyelashes using a small applicator brush provided with the medication. It is important to follow the application instructions provided by your healthcare provider to ensure the medication is applied correctly. Typically, Latisse is applied once daily, in the evening, to clean, dry skin. It is important to avoid getting the medication in the eye or on the lower lashes as it can cause unwanted hair growth in those areas.
Results: Results from using Latisse can typically be seen within 4-8 weeks of starting treatment, with full results being seen after 12-16 weeks. Continued use of Latisse is necessary to maintain the desired results.
