Juvederm – Precautions & Aftercare

Juvederm - Precautions & Aftercare Treatment t jackson TN by Rejuvenate Wellness and MedSpa

Aging is a natural process, yet it comes with many good things. First, you make wiser choices in life, you get to know yourself better, and you can look over your achievements with pride. However, maturing is nothing without its negative factors. We’re not only talking about the challenges we have in life but those visible appearances on our faces. During this period, wrinkles and fine lines develop on your skin, which is more visible than usual. The good thing is that you can fight back these symptoms with the use of Juvederm, a filler available for every healthcare provider. Let’s look at what Juvederm can do and how it benefits you.

In this post, we’ll also discuss the pre and post-care methods that you need before going through the procedure.

What Does Juvederm Do?

Made with Hyaluronic Acid (HA), the filler gets injected beneath the skin with a very fine needle. HA fillers occur in the body naturally as part of the complex sugar that enhances skin elasticity and hydration.

High levels of HA can contribute to a supple and soft facial appearance like those that we most enjoyed when we were young. But HA levels don’t remain in our lives. These elements drop as we age, leaving the skin vulnerable to more fine lines, wrinkles, and other effects.

Juvederm is responsible for such factors with its biocompatible formula to restore glowing and vibrant skin to help the body’s HA levels.

Juvederm Treatment Sites

While there are hundreds of injectables, Juvederm fillers are in the market today, having a versatile treatment. Various formulas fall under the Juvederm category: The Volluma, Ultra, Volbella, Vollure, and Ultra Plus. So what does Juvederm exactly treat? Here are the following:

  • Wrinkles
  • Crow’s Feet
  • Lip Lines
  • Nasolabial Folds
  • Frown Lines
  • Worry lines

Avoiding These Activities Before & After The Treatment

Though it can be intimidating to try at first, there’s nothing that you should worry about. This treatment is a non-invasive, pain-free, and quick procedure. Making sure that you follow each of these recommendations will help you achieve the best results for your treatment.

Pre-Treatment Needs

A week before your therapy, you must stop taking NSAIDs like Advil and Motrin. Items with NSAIDs and aspirin are not an excellent factor to help you with your treatment. Common drugs have multiple effects on the body, including blocking your platelets.

You can get bruising when platelets are not allowed from sealing capillaries disturbed by injectables. Other foods that can obstruct your platelet activity and must get avoided are:

  • Mackerel
  • Chia Seeds
  • Salmon
  • Alcohol Drinks
  • Nuts

Stopping All Supplements

Another factor is that supplements like Vitamin E, fish oil, green tea thin the blood like prescription medication. Most herbal supplements and vitamins can have various effects when you use them before cosmetic therapy. In that sense, it would be best to stop taking it all at least one week before the treatment.

No To Topical Skin Irritants

Forty-eight hours before your treatment, you must stop using topical anti-aging creams, serums, and ointment. This part boils down to skincare products with glycolic acid, retinol, retinoids, and Retin-A. Each of these items can irritate your skin and impact your treatment negatively.

The truth is, most hair removal products do the same. Once more, ensure not to bleach or wax your hair two days before your treatment. Avoid hair removal creams, which generally contain harsh chemicals.

Post-Treatment Care

It may be strange to hear your doctor telling you to stop your exercise routine. But we can assure you that it is not for a definite purpose. For two days, you must avoid activities that can raise your heart by about 100bpm.

This part allows damaged capillaries to repair themselves after the treatment. If you follow that steps, you’ll be able to enjoy the full benefits of Juvederm. Yet, if you wish to keep exercising, a light walk or easy yoga will be okay.

No Touching

It may feel off not to touch the injection site, but you will get used to it. There are instances that the site may also be itchy, which is normal. But we still recommend you not pick, scratch, or rub the area. You must also avoid massaging it, moving the gel injectable before it completely heals.

No Champagne & Wine

Drinking a glass of wine after your injectable treatment may seem like a great idea, but it’s not. Alcohol drinks contribute to bruising before your session, and they can do the same thing in the end as well. Say no to alcohol for 48 hours, and blood vessels and underlying tissues will hear faster.

No Sun in the Meantime!

Sun exposure can cause redness and swelling in the treatment area. It would be best to avoid the sun as much as possible. Still, applying sunscreen or sunblock lotion would be best if you wish to go outside. You can also wear protective clothing to keep you safe from the sun. Also, skip tanning beds, saunas, and hot tubs, which give off intense heat and irritate the skin.

What You Can Do

To heal faster, here are some things that you can do. The first piece of advice is to drink and eat fresh pineapple juice three days before your appointment. This fruit has an enzyme that can:

  • Reduce the inflammation
  • Fight bruising
  • Speed healing

The best way to enjoy pineapple is to try it unprocessed or raw. Canned goods are fine, but they can lose some of their enzymes. Pineapple is an excellent source of dietary fiber, vitamin C, and other nutrients that you need to recover.

Book your Appointment

It is never too late to try Juvederm and discover its best healing process. You can consult with your doctor or healthcare provider about some other tips that Juvederm can do. It would still be best to get assessed with your doctor and see the possible outline for your goals. Nonetheless, if you think Juvederm best fits you, why not try it now?
